WORLD DISHES CONTEST in SHIMADAI 2020

 

  The winner of the Grand Prix for the World Dishes Contest in ShimaDai 2020 is Team, We are the world’s “Soto Ayam"! Congratulations!!

About Exchange with SU Int'l Students

 At Shimane University, there are about 200 international students from roughly 22 countries. Because of the spread of COVID-19, there are SU students abroad who couldn't come to Japan. As such, the Center for International Exchanges and the Center for Foreign Language Education are making efforts to expand international exchange.

Our Aim
with this Contest

 Our aim is for SU students and the community to experience the international students’ food culture, and make this a cultural exchange opportunity for the world and the community.
 Using this contest as a kick-starter, we hope that this will lead to even more active international exchange between the community and SU.

 





Join by Yourself or As a Team!

● Application Requirements: Those who fall under either of the following
 ・Currently enrolled SU international student
 ・International student who has been enrolled at SU (short-term students included)
● Team participation is OK(Up to 4 people, Japanese students can only
    participate on teams)

 


 Through Participating in this Contest
 

It is an opportunity to tell others about the creative recommended dishes you usually eat. It is also a chance to enjoy diversity through getting to know about the international students’ creative dishes with various food cultures.

 


 Awards
 

 1st Place:
    Your dish in the dining hall 
    (with the name you give it)

    Extra Prize: External Battery Charger and USB Set
 2nd Place:
    Extra Prize: External Battery Charger and USB Set
 ※As a participation prize, everyone will receive
       a special bag from the Center for International
       Exchanges.

     


 Award Ceremony
 

The results will be announced during SU Global Month!
 Time: Friday, December 11
 Place: TBA
 ※Everyone who passed the first screening
       is welcome to participate.

 


 After Award Ceremony
 

 The winner or winning team’s dish will be posted on the Center for International Exchanges website as part of the prize.
 Other submitted recipes will also be made public.

 First Stage Screening Results: November 9 (Mon)
 First Stage Screening Video and/or Photo Submission:

How to Prticipate

STEP 1

Write down the recipe!
Fill in the necessary lines for your original recipe.

STEP 2

Submit the recipe!
Submit the application form by e-mail to
ied-koryu@office.shimane-u.ac.jp
※In the subject line, write “World Dishes Contest Application” and attach the application form. You do not need to write anything in the body of the e-mail.

STEP 3

Confirm the screening results!
Confirm the results of the first screening that will be released on Monday, November 9! The results will be made public on this website.

STEP 4

Make a dish for second stage of screening!
Make a video or take photos of you/your team making the food and submit them.
The video can be edited however you like.
Be creative in conveying the appeal of your original recipe to the audience!
When submitting photos, please prepare 10 or more photos of the dish and the participants.

STEP 5

Judging. Convey the appeal of your creative dish with your friends and acquaintances!
We will make a voting page on our website using the videos and photos that are sent in.
The number of votes you get will have a big influence on judging!

STEP 6

Results Released!

On Monday, December 7, the results will be released.
Friday, December 11 is the Award Ceremony.
Please attend the ceremony.

Judging Criteria
A fair judging process will take place based on the following format and criteria.
Scoring Criteria〉(Full marks is 50 points)
 Can be made “anytime, anywhere, and by anyone” (30 points)
 Originality (20 points)
 

Judging Results Release
The winner will be announced on Monday, December 7 on the Center for International Exchanges website.
 

Award Ceremony
There will be an Award Ceremony for the winning team/person.
