島根大学では、令和7年5月22日に米国土安全保障省が発表したハーバード大学の留学生受入れに関するプログラムの停止措置等を踏まえ、意欲と才能ある若者たちの学びの継続を保障するという考えのもと、下記の支援を行います。
【支援の対象】
日本人を含む米国の大学に在籍（新規学生VISA取得者を含む）している、若しくは
入学の許可を得たが新規学生VISAが取得できなかった学生
【支援の内容】
受入支援 ： 自然科学研究科に大学院生１０名を受け入れる
受入時期は２０２５年１０月入学または転入学から
受入れにあたっては、一定の学力、研究遂行能力を有することを確認する面接試験（口頭試問を含む）を実施するとともに、研究インテグリティの観点からの審査も行います。詳細については後日公表します。
学費支援 ： 授業料等学費免除
その他の支援 ： 宿舎の無償提供

Important Notice
Support for Students Enrolled in or Planning to Study at Universities in the United States
In light of the suspension of Harvard University’s international student admission programs announced by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on May 22, 2025, Shimane University is committed to supporting motivated and talented students in continuing their academic pursuits. We will provide the following support measures:
Eligible Students
This support is intended for students, including Japanese nationals, who meet either of the following criteria:
– Are currently enrolled at a university in the United States, including those who have recently obtained a student visa; or
– Have been admitted to a U.S. university but were unable to obtain a new student visa.
Support Offered
1. Admission Support
- Up to10 graduate students will be accepted into the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology.
- Admission will be available starting October 2025, either through new enrollment or transfer.
- Applicants must undergo an interview (including an oral examination) to assess their academic ability and research competence. An additional screening will be conducted to evaluate research integrity.

2. Tuition Support
Exemption from tuition and other academic fees.
3. Housing Support
Free university accommodation will be provided.
