The International Center held a Career Guidance Session for international students. The purpose of this session was to help students who wish to work in Japan gain a better understanding of the Japanese job-hunting process and the preparations required for successful employment.
During the session, participants learned about the characteristics and schedule of job hunting in Japan, as well as an overview of the Japanese recruitment process. Topics included company research, participation in internships, preparation of entry sheets, and interview strategies. Students were encouraged to begin preparing for their careers while still enrolled at the university and to take an active approach to career planning.
In addition, the importance of improving Japanese language proficiency was highlighted. While language requirements vary depending on the industry and position, participants were advised that continuous Japanese language study is essential for both job hunting and effective communication in the workplace.
During the Q&A session, participating international students raised numerous questions regarding the level of Japanese language proficiency expected by Japanese companies, how to find and apply for internship opportunities, and age-related concerns in the job-hunting process. The session provided a valuable opportunity for students to think more concretely about their future career paths.
The International Center will continue to support international students in their career development and job-search activities through various events, workshops, and consultation services in cooperation with relevant departments across the university.
