Sekai-jin club 🌏 event was held on February 13.
This time, we welcomed faculty members and students from three institutions in India who are currently visiting Shimane University. With many guests joining us, the event was livelier and more vibrant than usual.
Following opening remarks by Prof. Yoshimi Kataoka, Vice President for the Promotion of Globalization, faculty and students from each Indian institution shared memorable experiences from their stay in Japan. After that, the “Shimadai Ambassadors,” a student group that introduces the charms of Shimane University in English, along with Indian exchange students, gave presentations with slides about their daily lives and studies. Their talks conveyed the enjoyable and fulfilling student life here in Shimane. The quiz about Shimane and Matsue, created by the Shimadai Ambassadors, also brought excitement and laughter to the room.
In the second half of the event, participants enjoyed interacting with each other while diong origami. Students who were already familiar with origami quickly completed their creations and even challenged themselves to do more difficult designs. Those trying origami for the first time folded shuriken and cranes with the help of Japanese students, proudly showing their finished pieces. The room was filled with bright smiles throughout the activity.
Thank you very much to everyone who joined us. We hope that this event will remain a wonderful memory for our guests from India.
