Skate trip for international students

公開日 2026年02月18日

On Thursday, February 5, 2026, an ice‑skating training session for international students was held at Koyukan in Izumo City.

A total of 34 international students from both the Matsue and Izumo campuses, along with 3 Japanese student supporters, participated in the event.

Participants first received about 40 minutes of instruction from an instructor, beginning with how to stand on the ice. After that, they were free to skate around the rink. Although some students initially struggled just to stand on the ice, they gradually learned to stand on their own and continued practicing enthusiastically, even as they fell. Students with skating experience supported beginners, which helped deepen their interaction.

The students’ focused expressions as they practiced, as well as the way they helped and encouraged friends who had fallen, created many smiles and moments of interaction that cannot be seen only on campus. The session proved to be a very meaningful and enjoyable experience.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at Koyukan and to all those who cooperated in making this event possible. Thanks to your support, we were able to carry out the training successfully.
