The International Center held a career seminar for international students over three sessions: October 30, 2025; December 12, 2025; and January 20, 2026. This seminar, jointly planned by Shimane University and Shimane Labor Bureau (Hello Work Matsue), provided an opportunity for international students seeking employment in Japan to learn about job-hunting methods in Japan. This marks the second year of its implementation.

The themes for each session were: “Self-Analysis and Industry/Company Research” (Session 1), “Preparing Application Documents” (Session 2), and “Preparing for Interviews” (Session 3). Mr. Tadashi Matsumoto, a Job Support Navigator from the Matsue New Graduate Support Hello Work, served as the lecturer for all sessions.

Job hunting schedules and manners in Japan are unique, presenting many challenging aspects for international students to understand. Mr. Matsumoto provided clear explanation in each session, incorporating actual examples and practical exercises. This offered international students a valuable opportunity to learn directly from a professional officer. Furthermore, some participants visited the Matsue New Graduate Support Hello Work Office on their own after the seminar to receive further support. This seminar thus serves as a crucial first step for international students to smoothly begin their job search.

The International Center plans to hold regular career seminars for international students further.
