On Friday, May 16, 2025, nineteen students from Lee Woo Sing College, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, visited Shimane University and interacted with its students in English. This visit was part of a program where students from Lee Woo Sing College traveled across the San’in region from May 13 to May 20, experiencing cultural activities and visiting various facilities.
Seventeen students from Shimane University participated in the exchange. After a brief self-introduction by all participants, Shimadai ambassadors, a student group that introduces the charm of Shimane University to guests, gave an overview of the university. The students were then divided into small groups, and Shimane University students led guided tours around the campus
During the post-tour discussion, students shared their impressions of Shimane University and the San'in region, as well as their thoughts on the tour. They also expressed their gratitude to the friends they had made during the exchange.
Despite the entire exchange being conducted in English, students overcame language barriers and naturally connected with one another. Though the time was limited, it was a valuable experience that deepened intercultural understanding and broadened international perspectives. Some students were reluctant to say goodbye, demonstrating how meaningful the exchange had been. This encounter is expected to inspire further learning and friendships in the future.
