This program was supported by the Sakura Science Program, which was planned by Professor Daishi Kuroiwa, from the Interdisciplinary Faculty of Science and Engineering at Shimane University. Under the theme of “Research Exchange in Green Energy through Mathematics, Data Science, AI Optimization,” the program will take place from January 26 to February 2.
At the beginning, Vice President Kataoka gave a welcome speech, wishing the invitees to enjoy their eight days at Shimane University through the research exchange and Japanese cultural experiences scheduled during their stay. Prof. Narin Petrot (Naresuan University) and Prof. Poom Kumam (King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi) expressed their gratitude for the valuable exchange opportunities through the Program. The students introduced themselves and some of them commented that Japanese food is delicious and expressed their anticipation for the tea ceremony experience scheduled for the latter part of the program. The conversation was exchanged in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Shimane University has concluded MOU with Naresuan University and King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, and has continued research exchange over the past several years. Last year, we concluded a double degree program agreement with both universities, making it possible for doctoral students to pursue degrees from both universities. It is hoped that students who come to Japan through this program will be inspired to enroll in Shimane University's doctoral course, and that the wide-ranging exchange between Shimane University and Naresuan University, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi will become even more active.

On January 30, a university introduction was held by the student group "Shimadai Ambassador," which promotes the attractiveness of Shimane University.
After a slide presentation, the group visited the cafeteria, the Next Generation Tatara Co-creation Centre (NEXTA), and the Shimane University Museum ASHIKARU. At the museum, Director Prof.Ege provided explanations about the exhibits. Students interested in Japanese culture enthusiastically admired Japanese swords made in the Iwami region during the Sengoku period and a map of Matsue Castle Town from the Edo period.
During the tour, lively conversations were exchanged, with the Shimadai Ambassador and the students teaching each other their languages and sharing information about university life.
Despite the cold day with snowflakes falling, it seemed to be an enjoyable experience for the Thai students.
