Shimane University held a variety of international exchange and global-focused events during November, 2024, a period designated as SU Global Month. The purpose of this event was to raise global awareness of faculty members and students, and to promote globalization throughout the university. This is the sixth year SU Global Month was held. A total of 1536 students, faculty staff and citizens participated.
During Various events were conducted such as study abroad information sessions introducing study abroad programs and language learning methods, events to deepen multicultural understanding, and events to interact with international students through international exchange events and extracurricular activities.
At the study abroad information sessions held face-to-face, about 20 students showed high interest to exchange programs and short term programs.
Club activity experience events for international students were also held. Not only was this beneficial for the international students who were exposed to Japanese culture such as karate, calligraphy, but also the Japanese students who accepted the students commented that it was a good experience for both sides as they were able to communicate a lot. In addition, many other events were organized by motivated students.
The International Center, Shimane University will continue to organize such events in the future, in order to raise global awareness for faculty and staff members as well as students, and to promote the university's further globalization.
