On November 11, 2024, eight invitees from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (Sri Lanka) and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (India), invited by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) "SAKURA SCIENCE Exchange Program," paid a courtesy visit to President Otani. President Otani welcomed them warmly, expressing his hope that their stay would be meaningful through various planned research exchanges.
This invitation program, adopted by the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences at Shimane University under the SAKURA SCIENCE Exchange Program, focuses on the theme "Development and Characterization of Novel Drug Systems Using Multimodal Imaging Techniques : Advancing Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Methods," and will take place from November 6 to 20.
During the meeting, after the self-introductions by the invitees, they discussed the places to visit as part of their Japanese cultural experience, ongoing joint research, and future plans.

Prior to the courtesy visit, the Shimadai Ambassadors introduced the university. Following a slide presentation, they toured campus facilities such as Next Generation Tatara Co-creation Center(NEXTA), the Shimane University Museum ASHIKARU, and the cafeteria on the campus, enjoying interactions with the Shimane University Ambassadors.
