Participation in the 3rd Japan-India Universities Forum

October 19, 2024 (Sat), the 3rd Japan-India Universities Forum, organized by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), took place in New Delhi, India, Prof. KATAOKA Yoshimi, Vice-President for Globalization attended the forum on behalf of Shimane University.
The forum aimed to create a platform for exchange to further promote collaboration between Japan and India, with the participation of 43 universities and institutions from Japan and 36 from India.

In the first part of the forum, lectures were delivered by distinguished guests from both Japan and India. The second part featured a round-table discussion, in addition to the common theme of “Promoting the circulation of human resources between Japan and India and utilizing these human resources”, there was discussion on specific topics such as the exchange of human resources through joint research, and the necessity and role of exchange centers.

During the bilateral meetings with Indian universities, Shimane University held discussions with five universities, including the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, and the Vellore Institute of Technology, exchanging views on the potential for educational and research collaboration.
As it was the timing for the renewal of the academic agreement between Shimane University and IIT Hyderabad, a signing ceremony was held in conjunction with the bilateral meeting with IIT Hyderabad. In addition to renewing the MoU, a new student exchange agreement was concluded this time, and the two universities promised the promotion and strengthening of cooperation.

Shimane University expects that participation in this forum will further enhance its exchanges with Indian institutions.
