On Jaunary 12(Fri.), the first disaster drill in four years after the Corona Disaster was held at the International House Matsue. There are currently students from seven countries, Japanese student tutor and researchers, and 26 students participated in the drill.
During the drill, students first learned the cause of fire accidents and how to act in the event of fire in the lecture given by Matsue Kita Fire Department. Later, they actually made a 119 emergency call and got a training using descending device and fire extinguisher. Then, they also did comprehensive drill including emergency reporting, evacuation, evacuation guidance and safety confirmation on the assumption that fire might break out in the kitchen. Following the fire drill, the Matuse Police Department displayed disaster prevention panels and provided guidance on disaster and crime prevention. The students were reminded not to be overconfident that Japan is safe and that they need to protect their own belongings.
The drill became a good opportunity to all the participants to learn the importance of protecting their lives as well as raising their awarness of disaster prevention in Japan, where earthquakes and other disasters occer frequently.
