The International Center at Shimane University conducted the AY 2021 Global Issue Overseas Training Program online from February 7 to 16. This project was developed in cooperation with SALASUSU, a Japanese NPO that supports women in Cambodia. Fifteen students from the Faculties of Law and Literature, Education, Life and Environmental Science, and Interdisciplinary Faculty of Science and Engineering participated in the program.

The purpose of this training was to learn about issues in developing countries through the activities of SALASUSU, to share the experiences of local people and Japanese people who are working in Cambodia, and to learn more about issues in developing countries and their efforts based on this information. The program included interviews with local people about their activities and learning about local issues using video materials, workshops, and other activities online.

During the training, the participating students were able to deepen their understanding of issues in developing countries through in-depth discussions with a total of twelve Cambodian and Japanese people over the course of eight days.

Shimane University will continue to provide opportunities to learn about various issues occurring around the world through this kind of training.
