On June 22nd, the International Center held its 2nd USA Online Cafe for the academic year of 2021 . In this online session, seven students from the University of Arkansas, one of Shimane University’s international partners, and nine students from Shimane University collaborated and engaged in exchanges through the main topic of stress relief techniques.

Students from both universities said that most of their classes were online and they had been feeling stressed. They exchanged many ideas on how to release stress. For example, students mentioned time management, talking with their own friends and family, listening to various types of music, and outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, swimming.

Students are looking forward to having in-person classes as can be seen from the comment, “I can’t wait to have face-to-face classes at University of Arkansas from August.” There were also positive comments about online sessions from both sides such as, “It is fun to be able to interact online,” and the event gave a precious opportunity for international interaction.

In the second session of the event, students enjoyed talking about their own universities, the abundant nature in Arkansas, sightseeing spots in Japan, and post-pandemic travel.
The International Center will actively hold these kinds of online sessions for the purpose of student exchange and to communicate the attractiveness of Japan and Shimane University.
