On June 11 and June 25, Shimane University joined the Southwest Asia Online Japan Study Abroad Seminar sponsored by Tokyo University. As a panelist, Shimane University presented for approximately twenty-five minutes to current high school and university students, and graduated high school and university students who participated to utilize their alumni network. Participants were from the Southwest Asia region, mainly from on India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. High school, university, and graduate students gathered online to listen to the panelists’ presentations: 275 people on June 11, and 214 people on June 25. On both days, over 80 percent of the participants were Indian.
As many participants desired to take classes in English, Shimane University explained about courses that are offered in English, such as the Interdisciplinary Faculty of Science and Engineering’s Bilingual Education Course, and the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology. There were many questions about scholarships, tuition, student accommodation, as well as inquiries regarding study fields such as Information Systems and Data Science.
Shimane University is dedicated to joining online study abroad fairs and presenting on courses such as those specifically for international students. Now and going forward, the university will continue to move forward with international exchange opportunities.
