On October 28th, the Center for International Exchange at Shimane University held online its Job Hunting Seminar and Individual Counseling for international students who wish to work in Japan.
This seminar is held twice a year in collaboration with the Shimane University Higher Education Center for the purpose of helping international students deepen their understanding of the standards for job hunting in Japan and familiarize them with how to use job hunting support agents/websites for international students. The Guidance Seminar was held for the second time this year, and the lecturer introduced "How international students can prepare for the job hunting process from now", such as knowing the differences in job hunting between Japan and foreign countries, how to improve Japanese language skills, how to prepare expenses for job hunting, and how to collect information on websites supporting international students. Two international students participated in the Guidance with English support, and the students actively asked questions such as, "How can I conduct job hunting smoothly under COVID-19?"
The Individual Counseling is held monthly, and faculty members from the University Higher Education Center and the International Exchange Center offer individual consultations for international students. This time, two students participated in this counseling.
For international students who wish to work for Japanese companies, Shimane University offers scholarships to internship participants at local companies as well as job hunting support programs in cooperation with universities in metropolitan areas. Shimane University will continue to provide various types of support so that international students can conduct their job hunting smoothly.
