On December 9th and 10th, presentations by thirteen companies in Shimane Prefecture were given at the Shimane University Center for International Exchange. The event was held for Shimane University international students and approximately ten international students from Toyo University who will participate in camp-type internships in Shimane next year. The presentations were given through a two-way video conference with Toyo University.
The camp-type internships in Shimane Prefecture, scheduled to be implemented in February 2020, are a part of the I-Turn Employment Promotion Program for International Students. This program was launched in July 2017 in collaboration with Shimane University and Toyo University. The aim is to have more international students know the charms of Shimane Prefecture and the companies in Shimane Prefecture, and to help the students find jobs in rural Japan in the future. Each of the company representatives, together with their international employees, presented their company’s overview and trial work experience. The companies also appealed to the participating international students regarding the attractiveness of companies in Shimane Prefecture. The eight international students from Shimane University who participated in this event listened intently to the information regarding job hunting and to the allure of internships in Shimane Prefecture.
Through events such as this, Shimane University will further strengthen its relationship between the local community and companies. Shimane University will also provide opportunities for communication between international students and companies to promote the employment of international students and to reduce the shortage of human resources in Shimane Prefecture as a community-minded university.
