The Center for International Exchange at Shimane University held a Business Japanese Lecture for International Students from November 2nd to 3rd, and ten international students participated.
Dr. Yusuke Tanaka, Associate Professor of Toyo University International Education Center, was invited as a lecturer and gave a talk to international students regarding methods of learning business Japanese, communication methods, document writing, and trends and countermeasures for the Business Japanese Proficiency Test. Some participants expressed a desire to work in Japan, while others wished to use their Japanese language ability to work at Japanese companies after returning to their home countries. Students asked many questions regarding business manners and communication, such as proper clothing and etiquette. At the end of the lecture, Vice President Dr. Deguchi, the Director of Shimane University International Exchange Center, awarded Certificates of Completion to all participants.
This lecture has been held consecutively for three years with the aim of improving the Japanese language ability for international students to be able to job hunt in Japan. The target of this class is students with N1 or N2 certificates of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or the equivalent. Thus far, every year participants have been successful in finding jobs in Japan. Students this year also listened to the lecture with enthusiasm.
For international students who wish to work for Japanese companies, Shimane University offers scholarships to internship participants at local companies and job hunting support programs in cooperation with private universities in metropolitan areas. Shimane University will continue to provide various support so that international students can conduct their job hunting smoothly.
