On October 29th, Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Dr. Ai Muto, currently dispatched to partner institution of Shimane University Cochin University of Science and Technology (Kerala State, India), gave a lecture on studying abroad in Japan at the Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology. Approximately 110 science and engineering students showed interest in studying in Japan and participated.

This lecture was held as part of a project implemented by Shimane University in cooperation with Lake Nakaumi, Lake Shinji and Mt. Daisen Area Mayors Association, which consists of five cities in Shimane and Tottori prefectures. The purpose of this program is to provide Japanese language education to science and engineering students in India. The program then encourages students to study abroad at Shimane University or obtain internships at companies in the Shimane and Tottori region, which will hopefully lead to getting hired at a local company. Since August 2019, Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Dr. Muto, has been dispatched by Shimane University to Cochin University of Science and Technology as an educator in charge of the Japanese language education element of this project.

Shimane University will continue to promote academic exchanges with partner universities in India in collaboration with local governments and companies.
