The Center for International Exchanges held its Korean Summer Program from August 5th to 12th at Gyeongsang National University (GNU). Fifteen students, mostly first years, participated in this summer program.
Since Shimane University and GNU became partner universities in 1991, both institutions have been actively involved in student exchanges. Exchange programs have been held every summer, and this year’s schedule enhanced the students’ understanding of Korean culture and history. Participants visited a historical heritage site near Jinju city where GNU is located, experienced traditional Korean cuisine and culture, interacted with students majoring in Japanese language at GNU, and stayed with Korean host families during the weekend. Students interested in Korean culture and those considering Korea as a study abroad destination in the future seemed to find this program to be an invaluable experience for understanding Korean life.
Shimane University will further deepen its cooperation with partner universities through such activities in the future.
