On June 22, a cricket team mainly established by international students at Shimane University enjoyed a cricket-based local exchange with the children and guardians of Matsue City Mochida Elementary School. The international students’ cricket team comprises mainly of students from Bangladesh and Afghanistan, and an important objective of the team’s activities is to carry out exchanges with local residents. For the children of Mochida Elementary School, cricket was at first a challenging sport and they were puzzled. However, through playing together while learning the rules with seasoned students on the cricket team, the children cheered each other on with smiles on their faces and everyone was able to have a fruitful local interaction through the sport.
Shimane University will continue to actively support similar exchange activities of international students in the future.
