For the purpose of enhancing the mutual understanding among international students, Japanese students, university faculty members and concerned people in the local community, Shimane University organized the 9th International Party on December 17th, 2016. Over 224 participants joined the party and deepened their friendship.
After the opening statement by President Dr. Yasunao HATTORI, Shimane University offered a letter of appreciation to Mr. Ishikura, who is the manager and chief chef of Shimane University CO-OP, to express the sincere gratitude for providing Halal-friendly menus at university cafeteria from September this year. Then, the presentations by students followed, including the presentation made by Mr. Kodai Shibata (Senior, Faculty of Law and Literature) who joined a Japanese ministry sponsored program JENESYS 2016 in Thailand, and Mr. David William Ndossy (M2, Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering, from Tanzania) who introduced his home country and his life in Shimane. They presented in both Japanese and English so that all participants eagerly listened to the presentations.
The party began with the toast statement by Vice-president Prof. Akira DEGUCHI. The buffet menu included foods popular at cafeteria as well as new Halal-friendly foods. There have been lots of smiles and chatting all around the venue in a relaxing atmosphere. The party really livened up with bingo game organized by SUISA members, Taijiquan, a traditional Chinese shadow boxing and Bangladeshi dance along with their traditional music.
The party came to the end by singing "We are the World" by all participants. Thank you for your participation and cooperation.
