We held the Steering Committee with the representatives of Shimane University’s alumni associations, at Matsue campus on March 6th, 2015. The purpose of the Committee is to promote the relationship between Shimane University and those who are playing active part in academic fields in foreign countries. That was also set to develop the supporting foreign students’ advanced education and employment in Shimane Prefecture.
There were four guest attendees, namely Ms. Lu Hongyan; Director of Nursing Service Department at Ningxia Medical University (China), Ms. Zhang Xiaomeng; Professor of the School of Economics and Management at Ningxia University (China), Dr. Hermansah; Professor of the Faculty of Agriculture at Andalas University (Indonesia), Dr. Jaya Kumar Gurung; Executive Director at Nepal Development Research Institute (Nepal), and from Shimane University, President Kobayashi, Shotai, Dr. Ando, Yasunori; Director at the Center for International Exchanges, Mr. Ota, Toshiyuki; Project Instructor at the Center.
We began the conference by President Kobayashi’s addressee that our University has the plan to implement the matching and internship for foreign students with companies in Shimane Prefecture as specific measures for assisting their employment, based on our plan of “Development of Glocal Human Resources.” The President stated that advanced relationship with the alumni would be also expected to contribute to this goal.
The guest participants expressed their positive intention of encouraging their students’ study and research in Shimane University, as well as proposing that the alumni should exchange information with each other through Shimane University to explore the possibility of collaborative researches among the alumni associations. We spoke in favor of the proposal and would consider getting alumni to share their information by means of “Quarterly News” of our University, etc.
We also gave detail explanation about the operation of the “Fund for Supporting the Internship for Foreign Students” and requested the participants to pay special concern for sending us such students as to have interest in working for companies in Shimane prefecture. The participants gave their agreement on it.
