President of Busan National University(Korea)visited Shimane University 2010/2/22

On February 9th, the President of Busan National University of Education, Korea, Mr. Sang Yong Kim and his concerned parties made a courtesy call on President Hiroki YAMAMOTO of Shimane University. They talked about promoting the Student and academic exchange between two Universities based on the long good relationship. They will stay in Matsue until February 10th to talk about details of the ceremony for 20th anniversary of our relationship since we had an agreement on 1990.

Guo Baolin of the college of information Engineering of Dalian University(China) made a courtesy call on President Hiroki YAMAMOTO of Shimane University, and talked about promoting the Student Exchange and enhancement of cooperative research between two universities based on the good academic exchange which has been continuing since 2003.

2009 International Party in Shimane University 2010/1/5

December 19, 2009, Shimane University held the International Party for the purpose of enhancing mutual understanding and International Exchanges among international students, Japanese students and concerned people. With the support of more than 150 participants, the second International Party was successfully staged at University Hall, consisting of International Exchanges activity reports, get-acquainted reception and playing cross cultural games.
Based on the result, Shimane University is holding the International Party like this event once every year.

International students cooperated with the project of Review by Lone Foreigner about Transport System in Matsue and Izumo area 2009/12/2
|
The project of Review by Lone Foreigner about Transport System in Matsue and Izumo area was implemented by Chugoku District Transport Bureau of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism from December 1st and 2nd for the purpose of increasing number of overseas travelers. Three international students (Ms. Jung Hyojung, Ms. Wei Duo, Mr. Cardona Juan Manuel) and Professor Yasunori ANDO of Shimane University cooperated with this project. The results of this project shall be reflected in a variety of measure of reforming the present transport system in this region into more hospitable ones.

JASSO(Japan Student Services Organization) held the Japan Education Fair 2009( Viet Nam) at Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on 21/22 November. Professor Yasunori ANDO and Mr. Yoetsu OMURA, General Manager of International Exchanges Division of Shimane University, had participated in this Education Fair. We accepted many students and relevant people, who consulted us about going to the Faculty of Economics, Engineering and Japanese Language/ Culture and so on.

Orientation for incoming new international students 2009/11/1
|
The orientation for incoming new international students was held on October 7, 2009. Thirty two students from ten countries attended at this orientation. Prof. Y. ANDO, Deputy Director of the Center for International Exchanges, encouraged students to get accustomed to Japanese life quickly and bring great memories to their home countries on their return. Students also took the classroom lecture about the rules for separating garbage. After the lecture, students visited at Recycle Plaza to look the garbage disposal facility and took a Horikawa Sightseeing Boat. When they looked at the beautiful scenery in Matsue, they realized again how important the environment protection is.

Four students and two professors from Renmin University of China, School of Economics made a courtesy call on President Yamamoto. Shimane University and Renmin University of China, School of Economics had been continuing academic exchanges as conducted universities since 2005. At the meeting of courtesy call, they exchanged their opinions and deepened friendly relationship.

International students joined the Field trip to Osaka,Kyoto and Hyogo. 2009/09/08

The field Trip to Kyoto, Osaka and Hyogo for international students was held from August 25 to 27.
This trip helped foreign students to understand more deeply Japanese history and culture,
and there were lots of wonderful exchanges between them who had differnt nationalities.
It would be one of the greatest memories in Japan for them.

Summer program in Waterloo university（Canada) 2009/09/08

Three students of Shimane University and twelve students of Tottori University with two chaperons
participated in Summer Language Program of University of Waterloo, Canada from August 6 to 31.
They returnd to Japan with great progresses particularly in their English.

For the purpose of conducting FY2009 Summer program in Gyeongsang National University of Korea, 5 students and Mr. Yamaoka, assistant manager of the international students section visited to the Republic of Korea from August 18st to August 28.

Students from Ningxia University visited Vice President Shibata 2009/8/21
|
Seven students and two professors from Japanese language program of Ningxia University, China, made a courtesy call on Vice President Hitoshi Shibata. The group of Japan-China friendship SHIMANE invited these students to stay in Shimane for a week for purpose of their cross-cultural experience in Japan. Shimane University and Ningxia University had been continuing the academic exchanges as conducted universities since 1997. At the meeting of courtesy call, students and professors actively exchanged their opinions and commemorative gifts.
